Dr. Bharath Melugiri Shankaramurthy is a materials scientist with extensive expertise in cementitious systems, concrete durability, and sustainable construction materials. At UHPC India Pvt. Ltd., he leads research and development initiatives focused on advancing ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) technologies to deliver superior strength, durability, and sustainability in infrastructure applications.
Before joining UHPC India, Dr. Shankaramurthy served as a Senior Research Scientist – Materials Science at Biomason (USA), where he contributed to the development of biocement materials designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions from the concrete industry. His work at Biomason integrated experimental materials science with data-driven analysis to accelerate progress toward planet-friendly construction solutions.
Dr. Shankaramurthy earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Materials) from Iowa State University, USA, where his research focused on multiscale characterization of cementitious systems, evaluating their durability performance, microstructure, and sustainability potential through advanced analytical techniques. He has also held research and academic positions at IIT Madras, NIT Karnataka, and JNN College of Engineering, contributing to studies on self-consolidating concrete, geopolymer binders, and recycled material incorporation in concrete systems.
